THE elections are over and all is well that ends well.
This is the message that allies of the outgoing Iloilo City Mayor Jose Espinosa wants to impart as they attend the inauguration of lone district congressman now mayor-elect Jerry Treñas today, June 28, 2019.
Councilor Eduardo Peñaredondo confirmed in an interview on Thursday that all the elected councilors aligned with Espinosa – Candice Magdalane Tupas, Lyndon Acap, Mandrie Malabor and himself – will attend the inauguration.
Except for Tupas and Malabor, Peñaredondo said that he will be joining the oath-taking alongside Acap and the camp of Treñas.
“I’m glad nga akon mga upod will be attending the event. Ma attend sila sa celebration but Tupas and Malabor have signified nga they will not have another oath taking ceremony and to me it doesn’t matter,” he said.
Tupas, Malabor, Acap and Peñaredondo have already taken their oath of office before Senator Cynthia Villar of the Nacionalista Party (NP).
Acap, Tupas, Malabor, and Peñaredondo are the only Espinosa bets who made it to the Magic 12 in the recently concluded May 13 elections.
Eight out of the 12 elected councilors are Treñas allies – Rudolph Ganzon, Atty. Rommel Duron, Allan Zaldivar, Carlos Javellana, and incumbent councilors Lady Julie Grace Baronda, Jay Treñas, Ely Estante Jr.
Vice Mayor elect Jeffrey Ganzon and Congresswoman-elect Julienne Baronda, who are also Treñas bets, will also take their oath of office today.
The oath-taking will be administered by Ilonggo Supreme Court Associate Justice Francis Jardeleza and will be held at the Iloilo Convention Center (ICC) at 9 a.m. today.
