BACOLOD City – Dr. Julius Drilon, head of the Corazon Locsin Montelibano Memorial Regional Hospital (CLMMRH) here, opposed a proposal to do away with face shields.

Drilon said face shields increase the protection rate for individuals against COVID-19.

Individuals who wear face masks already have 90 percent protection, and adding face shields increases it to as much as 93 percent.

Drilon also said that based on new data released by CLMMRH Hospital Emergency Incident Command System, they foresee at least 130 to 160 new cases towards the end of June.

He said the analysis enables the hospital management to strategically allocate its resources and manpower to areas that will be needing utmost attention.

“With an increasing Reproduction Number as of June 13 in Bacolod, it reveals that there is an impending concern that the cases will continue to increase in the next few days unless drastic measures and stern actions will be applied,” Drilon said.
