BACOLOD City – The family of a slain businessman here is asking justice for his death.

Roland Tan, 58, of Talisay City, Negros Occidental was shot dead by unidentified perpetrators near Crown Agri in Barangay Villamonte on May 21.

The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) is eyeing two angles – business-related and personal – behind Tan’s murder.

“Our family is in deep mourning right now as we face the loss of our beloved brother, father, husband, and family member. We are asking for justice for my brother and for our family,” the family said, in a statement provided to the media yesterday.

Tan’s family also said that: “it saddens us that in this time of our family’s sorrow, we also have to battle with the malicious rumors and innuendos that are also affecting us mentally, psychologically, and emotionally.”

They said that Crown Agri is a legitimate business and more importantly, a family legacy that has been established by their father in 1965. “In the 55 years that our family has been in agriculture and oil industry, it has only been made even more prosperous through the efforts and hard work of us siblings,” the family said in a statement.

The family also said that Tan is a legitimate successful businessman. “We are in no way connected to illegal drugs despite the malicious rumors being spread by people who wish us ill. As such, we do not have anything to hide,” they said.

During this time, we are sincerely asking the public and the media to respect our period of mourning and to stop spreading malicious, baseless, and unfounded rumors that not only disrespect the man that my brother was, but also affect our family, as well, they said.
