A FARMER is now behind bars after he allegedly killed his cousin evening of Oct. 8, 2019 in Passi City, Iloilo.

Police identified the suspect as Jeffrey Pacardo, 42, a resident of the hinterland village of Dalicanan, where the incident happened. He surrendered to village officials after the incident.

Jeffrey and his cousin, 38-year-old Raymond Pacardo, went binge drinking the night of the incident at the former’s house.

The suspect told police investigators that he was peeing when the victim punched him from behind.

This allegedly compelled him to fight back and choked the victim.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Rogelio Ortigas, Passi City police chief, said the suspect did not flee hours after the incident was reported to the police.

Ortigas said drunkenness may have triggered the incident.

But according to reports, the two finished drinking late at night.

Raymond allegedly asked for another bottle of whisky at the store. But Jeffrey declined the additional drinks.

This may have caused misunderstanding between the two until the victim punched the suspect.

Meanwhile, Ortigas said a criminal charge was already filed against Jeffrey.
