Ken Tuffin, the former team captain of the Far Eastern University Tamaraws, put up efficient numbers in his New Zealand National Basketball League (NZ NBL) debut.
The hefty leftie contributed 10 points, pulled down four rebounds and stole the ball two times in 23 minutes of action, leading the Taranaki Mountainairs to a 107-95 victory against the Franklin Bulls.
Despite missing out on his first game for the Mountainairs, Tuffin proved that he belonged in the big league after impressing against a tough Bulls squad.
Tuffin decided to join the Taranaki Mountainairs and participate in the semi-pro league after getting the green light from FEU’s athletic director, Mark Molina.
“I was excited to help my team and contribute in any way they need me to,” said the 6’4’’ swingman.
Currently, Tuffin’s team has a record of 2 wins and no loss including a lopsided victory in their opening game against the Nelson Giants, 112-96.
