Fire razes five houses in E.B. Magalona

BACOLOD City – A total of 18 individuals were affected by a fire that gobbled an estimated P1.68 million worth of properties at Purok 1, Barangay Manta-angan, E.B. Magalona, Negros Occidental last Monday.

The Municipal Social Welfare and Development Office (MSWDO) reported that the affected residents include four senior citizens and four children.

Based on a report from the Municipal Fire Station, two houses were destroyed while three others were damaged.

The fire reportedly originated from the house of Tessie Chan at 1:18 p.m. and was raised to a second alarm.

The BFP declared fire out at 2:12 p.m., but its cause is still under investigation.

Also responding to the fire incident were Victorias City Fire Station, Silay City Fire Station, and Victorias City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

The local government has already provided food and clothing assistance to the affected residents.

Five families were temporarily staying with their relatives.

The MSWDO is also facilitating assistance from the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
