First awarding of PBRAP beneficiaries in Iloilo town

Another milestone for the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)Iloilo Provincial Statistical Office (IPSO) was achieved after the first awarding of ceremony for PhilSys Birth Registration Assistance Project (PBRAP) benefiaries, in partnership with the Local Civil Registry Office of San Joaquin, Iloilo, on October 19, 2022 in Brgy. Dacdacanan, San Joaquin, Iloilo.

OIC-Provincial Statistics Officer Jerry Dolutan of PSA-Iloilo and Municipal Civil Registrar Leo Satana together with the PBRAP Agents Nelyn Huyong and Ma. Christine Calibara awarded 22 PBRAP beneficiaries of Brgy. Dacdacanan, San Joaquin of free certificates of live birth in security paper (SECPA).

PBRAP is a project implemented by the PSA to ensure that all Filipinos should have their birth registered with the local authorities and will be provided with the legal documentation thru the issuance of the birth certificate and also aims to strengthen the documentation of Step 2 registration of PhilSys.

The target beneficiaries of PBRAP are the unregistered Filipinos belonging to the indigenous peoples (IPs), Muslim Filipinos, marginalized sector and those in remote or Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA) including those living outside their place of birth and were hampered by registration fees or lack of documentary requirements.

A total of 45 PBRAP beneficiaries from San Joaquin were awarded with their certificate of live births in security paper, one from Bucaya, two from Camia, 22 from Dacdacanan, one from Danawan, one from Ginot-an, one from Igcabutong, one from Lomboy, seven from Pañatan, two from Poblacion, and seven from Taslan.

The awarding was a memorable event to one of the awardees, Juanito Saet Nemiada, who received his best gift which is the first copy of his certificate of live birth in SECPA on the day of his 76th birthday.

Also, two of the beneficiaries were persons with disabilities. Siblings Sergio Servano, 53, (difficulty in walking) and Paulita Servano, 55, (blind) were grateful to finally have their live births registered since it is one of the requirements to claim government benefits.

In addition, beneficiary Paula Seminiano Notada straight away registered in Step 2 PhilSys registration after receiving her live birth certificate.

This marked another achievement for the PSA to have met one of their goals under PBRAP.

Dolutan said they are very enthusiastic to reach their goal to register at least 40,190 unregistered Filipino in Iloilo before the year ends.
