Five loose firearms surrendered

ROXAS CITY, Capiz— Five unlicensed firearms were surrendered by local officials to the police on Sept 23, 2020 in Dumarao and Mambusao towns.

The Dumarao Municipal Police Station a pistol-type homemade shotgun, a .38-caliber revolver and a .22-caliber revolver.

The firearms were personally turned over by Melchor Dampog, Punong Barangay of Bungsuan, Dumarao.

Dampog told the police that firearms were surrendered by one of the residents of their barangay.

Meanwhile, two more unlicensed firearms were turned over to Mambusao Municipal Police Station on the same day.

Punong Barangay Joey Llorente of Bunga, Mambusao handed over to the police a .38-caliber revolver and a holen (marble) gun.

The Capiz Police Provincial Office (CPPO) has a campaign against loose firearms dubbed “Tokhang Kontra Armas Luthang (TKAL).

Records from the CPPO indicated that Mambusao town has the most number of surrendered loose firearms since January to September 2020.
