Former Hua Siong College of Iloilo Red Phoenix superstar Mark Nonoy just confirmed to the Daily Guardian that he will be entering this year’s PBA Rookie Draft.

In an interview with the stalwart on July 4, 2024, Nonoy shared that he already passed the necessary documents required by the committee to the PBA office.

The pride of La Carlota, Negros Occidental is currently playing for the Iloilo United Royals in the Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL).

His transition from the UAAP collegiate rank to the professional level became the talk of the town after the United Royals quickly relied on his ability to handle the rock and score points in spurts despite his young age.

After 15 games played in the MPBL, Nonoy steered the United Royals to a 6-9 win-loss record and is still looking to contribute more in the remaining games.

Before entering the professional scene, Nonoy helped the De La Salle University (DLSU) Green Archers reclaim the UAAP Men’s basketball throne after defeating the University of the Philippines (UP) Fighting Maroons in the grand finals.

Nonoy was spectacular during that championship series and provided the Green Archers with the much-needed scoring and fast-paced tempo style of attack.

Despite a slow start in the first elimination round of the UAAP, Nonoy reclaimed his shooting touch and efficient scoring late in the second round, a vital reason why DLSU was able to make an incredible run to the Final Four.

As of now, it is yet to be determined if Nonoy will have the chance to barge into the lottery draft pool and make the first round.
