30 rebel returnees received farm inputs and agricultural reading materials from the Department of Agriculture (DA) Western Visayas during the Capiz Poverty Reduction, Livelihood and Employment Cluster (PRLEC) Serbisyo Caravan at Putian National High School in Cuartero Capiz, Sept 25, 2020.

DA distributed 10 kilograms of glutinous corn, 1 kilo of pole sitao and patola, 1/2 kilogram of okra and malunggay, and 78 assorted packs of upland and hybrid vegetable seeds to the beneficiaries.

The group also availed garden tools such as plastic drums, nylon string, seedling trays, mulching polyethylene, hose, spades, spading forks, hoes, trowels, bolo, water sprinklers, and wheelbarrows.

To provide the community with the latest farm technology production guides, DA also distributed several copies of information and education materials.

“The Department is continuously giving free planting materials, vegetable seeds and other agricultural assistance to uplift the lives not only of the farmers but also of the less fortunate communities,” Dumarao Research Outreach Station Chief Marcelina Crispino said.

Led by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), the caravan is an inter-agency convergence initiative to contribute to the transformation of the formel rebels in Brgy. Puti-an through the Retooled Community Support Program in Capiz.

The PRLEC of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) is assembling national government agencies and the private sector to aid communities in need of support for social development.
