GCash Expands Cashless Travel to 45 Markets

Filipino travelers can now enjoy a more seamless cashless experience in over 45 markets, thanks to the expanded partnership between GCash and Alipay+, which brings the Scan-to-Pay feature to more destinations, including mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao, Thailand, and the UAE.

This partnership allows GCash users to make hassle-free transactions at select Alipay+-enabled merchants, offering low foreign exchange rates and no service fees.

GCash International General Manager Paul Albano emphasized the app’s commitment to making global travel easier for Filipinos.

“We want to make sure every Filipino can maximize their GCash account wherever they are across the world,” Albano said.

In China, users can use GCash at over 80 million merchants, including popular spots in Beijing and Shanghai, such as Shangri-La Hotels, McDonald’s, and KFC.

Hong Kong and Macao also feature cashless convenience at attractions like Ocean Park and Sands Resorts Macao.

The United Arab Emirates and Thailand are other key destinations where GCash users can transact at merchants such as Dubai Mall, Abu Dhabi taxis, and over 400,000 stores in Thailand.

Edward Yue, General Manager of Southeast Asia, Australia, and New Zealand at Ant International, highlighted the importance of expanding this convenience to travelers.

“As we head towards the year-end travel season, this will make travel to these popular destinations more convenient,” he said.
