Girl accuses father of 90 counts of rape

A teenage girl accused her father, who is also a barangay captain, of sexually molesting her for several years.

Grace (not her real name) told policemen that the sexual molestation started around 2015 when she was just nine years old.

Lieutenant Ryan Christ Inot, Bingawan police chief, said the complainant is the only girl in a brood of four.

Her mother works as an overseas Filipino worker (OFW).

Inot declined to name the suspect to protect the complainant’s identity.

Grace got the courage to open up about her father’s abuse when her mother arrived home from abroad on Monday, August 21.

“The mother immediately confronted the barangay captain about their daughter’s complaint,” Inot said.

This allegedly sent the father into a rage fit. He then physically assaulted his wife and daughter.

At one point, the wife claimed the suspect choked her. She managed to shake him off and asked for police assistance.

The suspect was subsequently arrested.

Inot said they already filed a case against the suspect for violation of Republic Act 9262 (Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004).

As of Wednesday afternoon, he was processing his bail.

Inot said they have yet to file a case for 90 counts of rape against the suspect.

The suspect intimated to the police that he would still run for re-election in the upcoming barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan elections.
