With only 24 games done in the ongoing NBA regular season, the Golden State Warriors already made moves to further fortify their roster after sending a proposal that will land them Brooklyn Nets’ two-way point guard Dennis Schroder.
The shocking trade proposal was confirmed on December 15, 2024 and was announced first by ESPN’s NBA insider Shams Charania.
According to the veteran insider, the Warriors will be sending guard De’Anthony Melton and three future second-round draft picks to acquire the services of Schroder.
However, the deal is yet to reach a final agreement as the NBA still weighs the parity between the two franchises.
It was a surprising turn of events as Schroder is one of the most reliable members of the Brooklyn roster, averaging 18.4 points, 6.6 assists, 3 rebounds, and 1.1 steals per game so far in the season.
From playing a primary defender role in his past teams, Schroder slowly developed his offensive arsenal and improved his three-point shooting, the area that he struggled on early in his NBA career.
Schroder already had three games where he scored more than 30 points, a 34-point outing against the Milwaukee Bucks, 33 markers against the Memphis Grizzlies, and 31 against Golden State.
The German star is shooting .387 % from the three-point territory this season and is logging in 33.6 minutes per game for the Nets franchise.
If the trade is a done deal, Schroder will now team up with Stephen Curry, the greatest shooter to ever set foot in the NBA hardwood.
As of now, Golden State is yet to decide what role Schroder will play with their type of roster. Aside from Curry, the Warriors backcourt rotation consists of Lindy Waters, Moses Moody, and Buddy Hield.
If the NBA approves the trade between the Warriors and the Nets, Schroder will most probably suit up for Golden State on December 20, 2024, when they square off against the Memphis Grizzlies.
