Guard, Gov’t Employee Arrested for Gun Trade

A security guard and a local government employee were arrested in a police entrapment operation on the afternoon of Feb. 6 in Hamtic, Antique.

The suspects, identified only as Oliver, 42, a security guard from Barangay 8, San Jose, Antique, and Ronnie, 54, of Barangay Calacja I, Hamtic, were apprehended after allegedly conspiring to sell a firearm to a police poseur buyer.

Members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) – Antique Provincial Field Unit and Hamtic Municipal Police Station arrested the two suspects during a buy-bust operation at Barangay Villavert-Jimenez, Hamtic.

Authorities seized the following items:

  • One caliber .45 STI pistol (serial number 132579)
  • Two magazines and five rounds of .45-caliber ammunition
  • One inside holster for a .45-caliber pistol
  • One Samsung mobile phone
  • One Glock 27 (Gen 4) .40-caliber pistol with a defaced serial number
  • Two magazines and 27 rounds of .40-caliber ammunition
  • One inside holster for a .40-caliber pistol
  • One subscribed PHP 100 bill
  • PHP 34,000 boodle money

A case for violating Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) in relation to the election gun ban has been filed against the two suspects.
