Indian businessman wounded in gun attack

BACOLOD City – Police are still probing the motive behind the gun attack on an Indian national who got wounded in front of his apartment in Barangay Poblacion 1, Sagay City, Negros Occidental last Wednesday.

The name of the 44-year-old businessman was withheld.

Police Lieutenant Hannah Banquil, deputy chief of Sagay City Police Station, said the victim was driving his motorcycle when two unidentified persons were reportedly hiding while waiting for him.

One of the suspects then rushed towards the victim and shot him, hitting his left leg.

The victim was taken to Lopez District Farmers Hospital Inc (LODIFHI) Hospital by his family and was later referred to Bacolod Queen of Mercy Hospital here where he is now stable, according to Banquil.

Police recovered from the scene a fired bullet from a .45 caliber firearm.

Banquil said the victim was also wounded in a shooting incident in 2022.

She said they could not yet establish the motive as they have yet to talk to the victim.
