Johnriel Casimero does not need to chase Naoya Inoue anymore.
The Japanese boxing star himself said that after his bantamweight title clash against Australian foe Jason Moloney, he wants to face Casimero for the unification showdown if things go well with his preceding fight.
“I would like to fight Casimero as soon as possible to unify the belts, but for now, I’m focused on Moloney,” said the “Japanese Monster.”
Japan’s pride will be putting his World Boxing Association (WBA) and International Boxing Federation (IBF) bantamweight belts against Moloney and is hoping for an impressive win.
Casimero was coming off a scintillating knockout performance against hard-punching Ghanian Duke Micah and wants no one else but Inoue.
Since April, both fighters were already set to meet in the ring but COVID-19 related issues presented problems to both camps.
Casimero flew to the US to train anticipating that the bout would push through but unfortunately, an agreement could not be reached forcing the highly-anticipated showdown to be scrapped.
