ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Is Capiz Gov. Antonio del Rosario, who is facing a graft case before the Office of the Ombudsman-Visayas, planning to switch political allegiance before the May 13, 2019 midterm elections?

This question came to fore on Jan 9 when radio broadcasts reported that del Rosario will be hosting former Special Assistant to the President (SAP) Christopher “Bong” Go when the latter visits Capiz province and Roxas City on Jan 26.

Avid followers and supporters of the LP headed by former secretary Mar Roxas II were caught by surprise when Baskog Radio anchormen Noel Valentino and Glenn Beup mentioned in their respective morning programs that Bong Go will visit Capiz and Roxas City with del Rosario and Capiz second district Rep. Fredenil Castro of the National Unity Party (NUP) as his hosts.

In his Baskog sa Politika program with co-host Jay Lavapiez, Valentino was quoted as saying that Bong Go will be seated between Castro and del Rosario during the event at the Capiz gymnasium.

It remains unclear why incumbent Roxas City mayor Angel Alan Celino and first district Rep. Emmanuel Billones, both LP stalwarts, were not included or invited.

Meanwhile, PDP-Laban Garcia Wing provincial chairman Essex Quintia of Dao, Capiz has yet to comment on the development.

In his program Baskog Frontline, Beup reiterated the forthcoming visit of Bong Go in Capiz and even hinted at del Rosario’s possible support for Go’s senatorial run.

But a source from the LP disclosed that del Rosario is merely supporting the senatorial bid of Bong Go as he remains loyal to LP.
