Filipino Mixed Martial Artist (MMA) Jeremy Miado continued his impressive streak of wins at the ONE Fighting Championship: Fight Night 3 held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
The hard-hitting fighter pulled off an upset after a technical knockout (TKO) victory over fifth-ranked strawweight Daniel Williams in the third round of their explosive fight.
With 4:33 remaining in the last round, the crafty Miado landed a sweet 1-2 punch combination that sent Williams down to the canvass.
After setting up his combination with a left straight, Miado quickly came right back with a left jab-right straight sequence that was enough to reward him with the win.
The referee was then quick to come over to Williams and waived off the fight that made Miado’s TKO win official.
Midway into the opening round, Miado already had the chance to win the fight after landing a vicious right counter punch that wobbled Williams.
However, Williams managed to survive the unfortunate sequence and backpedaled his way to safety every time Miado went in to put pressure.
Miado’s upset victory over Williams is his fourth-straight win and solidified his case for a title eliminator chance in the strawweight division.
The 29-year-old fighter improved his ONE win-loss record to 12-4 and is looking to secure that top-five spot while Williams dropped to 6-2.
During his post-fight interview, Miado bared that he is setting his sight on the ONE strawweight title and is seeking an all-Filipino championship bout against defending champion Joshua Pacio of Team Lakay.
“I’m coming for the belt, give me a fight in Manila in December. I’m ready to put on a show for you guys,” Miado said.
