Kaya FC-Iloilo is preparing for a big-time matchup with Stallion Laguna FC as they meet in the middle of the pitch today, October 29, in the 2022 Philippines Football League (PFL).
Fresh off a two-match winning streak, the Ilonggo booters are looking to protect their no. 1 spot in the league as the elimination round closes on November 12.
Kaya FC must handle their business against Stallion Laguna first before taking on their rival team United City FC (formerly Ceres-Negros FC) in their last game of the season.
Despite taking down Stallion Laguna during their first encounter last September 3 with a 3-0 score, Kaya FC still couldn’t take this team lightly.
Stallion is still one of the most experienced teams in the current PFL season and was one of the few teams that decoded Mendiola FC’s defensive-oriented game.
Also, the Stallion squad kept themselves within striking distance against the Dynamic Herb Cebu FC in a hard-fought loss, 3-4.
Cebu is one of the two teams that handed Kaya FC a loss in the 2022 PFL season, 3-2, while the other one came from United City, 2-0.
Iloilo’s head coach Yu Hoshide already emphasized their need to finish strong in the season to gain more momentum heading into the playoffs.
Kaya FC is currently the no.1 team with 24 total points built from an 8-2 win-loss record while United City is behind with 21 points.
The Laguna-based team is also seeking to crash into the top three rankings before the playoffs begin and is currently in fourth place with 15 points.
