ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A man is facing an arson charge for allegedly torching the house of his father-in-law Saturday afternoon in Brgy. Lanot here.
Fire Senior Inspector Micheal Lopez, acting city fire marshal of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) in Roxas City, said they are preparing to file an arson case against alias Indo of said village today, January 22, before the Roxas City Prosecutor’s Office.
Couple Bonifacio and Erna Baselonia accused their son-in-law Indo as the one who set their house on fire.
Investigation by the Roxas Component City Police indicated that prior to the incident, Bonifacio went out to check their farm. He then met the suspect who went to his (Bonifacio) house to get rice seedlings.
The suspect demanded that Bonifacio gather the rice in their backyard or he will kill the latter if he refuses. But the father-in-law ignored the suspect and continued to his farm.
Bonifacio returned home only to see his house burning.
He said that his son-in-law might have burned their house out of jealousy at his wife.
The suspect remains at large.
