BACOLOD City – Police have no lead yet on the motive behind the death of a man whose body was found in a sugarcane field at Hacienda San Miguel, Barangay San Miguel, La Carlota City, Negros Occidental yesterday.

The victim was identified as Diovanie Bedonia, 40, of Barangay Maao, Bago City.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Jonel Guadalupe, city police chief, said the victim was ambushed by unidentified men while he was riding his motorcycle.

Guadalupe said Bedonia may have ran away from the area where he was shot and later fell on the sugarcane farm where he was found.

The victim suffered a lone gunshot wound in the abdomen.

Police recovered a .38 caliber revolver from the scene. But Guadalupe said they could not confirm if the victim owned the gun.
