ROXAS CITY, Capiz—A 47-year-old tricycle driver is facing charges for killing his younger brother Friday evening, May 24, at Sitio Sapa in Barangay Adlawan, Roxas City.
Police identified the victim as Gregorio Capote, 43, a laborer, while the suspect was Jerry Capote, 47, a tricycle driver, both residents of the village.
Investigation by the Roxas City Police Station indicated that the victim was drinking with friends when the older brother arrived.
The suspect was observed to be drunk when he suddenly scolded the victim.
A heated argument ensued between the two brothers, leading to a commotion. The suspect took a bolo and hacked his brother in the abdomen, feet, and other parts of the body.
Punong Barangay Roberto Ross Roldan of Adlawan village immediately responded to the incident after receiving the report from his kagawad.
The village chief saw the victim lying on the ground with blood oozing from his body.
The Roxas City Emergency Response Team (RCERT) responded and took the victim to the hospital, but the attending doctor declared him dead on arrival.
The suspect voluntarily surrendered to the police and is presently in the custody of the Roxas Component City Police Station.
