Man hacks father to death

A 45-year-old man allegedly killed his father following an argument while both were drunk.

Police Major Jose Nemias Pamplona, Calinog police chief, said the incident happened around 10 pm Sunday at Sitio Cubay, Batangay Alibunan, a village some 14 kilometers from Calinog town proper.

However, “we only received the report at around 3 in the morning of Monday.”

When police arrived, the 60-year-old victim Alberto Casipe was still at the same spot where his son Jojit, allegedly attacked him.

Pamplona said they took the victim to Calinog District Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival.

Jojit did not flee and was arrested at their house but the weapon used was missing.

Pamplona said they only had circumstantial evidences to show that the suspect killed his father.

Except for father and son, no one else was inside the house when the attacked happened.

Jojit has been staying with their family’s house as his live-in partner is in Mindanao.

Early that evening, witnesses said the two went on drinking spree.

Neighbors surmised that they had a misunderstanding until it turned into a heated argument.

“The victim was described to be tactless when under the influence of liquor. This might have irked the victim,” Pamplona said.

But when Jojit was asked if he killed his father and what prompted him to do it, “he claimed he did know what happened,” Pamplona said.

Jojit is now detained at the lock-up cell of Calinog Police Station while investigation is still going on.
