Man killed, one hurt in shooting

BACOLOD City – A man died while another was injured after they were shot by three unidentified persons at Barangay San Isidro, Toboso, Negros Occidental Thursday.

Police identified the fatality as Rex Gumban, 34, while Enrique Hilapon, 50, was wounded. Both are residents of San Isidro.

Police Lieutenant Rene Boy Eduardo, deputy police chief of Toboso Municipal Police Station, said the victims were riding a motorcycle when they were waylaid by the bonnet-wearing perpetrators.

Gumban was hit in the head which caused his immediate death, while Hilapon suffered a gunshot wound on his right shoulder.

Hilapon was able to run away from the suspects despite his wound.

Police recovered from the scene four empty shells of .9mm caliber ammunition.

Eduardo said they have no lead yet on the motive of the incident.

Hilapon is still confined at a hospital.
