Man killed, wife hurt in shooting

BACOLOD City – A man died while his wife was injured following a commotion at Pantalan Daan, Barangay 1 Poblacion, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental last Saturday.

Police identified the fatality as Mark Christian Salazar, 31, of the said village. His wife Liza, 35, was wounded.

Investigation disclosed that the suspect identified as 45-year-old Leroy Espinosa and his younger brother figured in an argument with Salazar that resulted to a commotion.

Armed with a .45 caliber pistol, the suspect allegedly shot Salazar, hitting the different parts of his body, while his wife suffered gunshot wounds in the stomach and right leg.

Both victims were rushed to Hinigaran Medical Clinic, but Salazar was declared dead on arrival, while his wife was later referred to Corazon Locsin Montelibano Regional Hospital here.

Police said that Espinosa also suffered a hack wound in his head, while his brother sustained a hack wound in his face.

Espinosa was arrested and is currently under police custody.

Police have yet to establish the motive of the incident.
