BACOLOD City – Police are looking for a man who allegedly threw an undetonated hand grenade at the house of his niece in Barangay Buenavista, Murcia, Negros Occidental last Sunday.
Police Captain Jerald Muya, town police chief, said old grudges allegedly triggered 40-year-old Jimmy Alimania to lob the explosive at his 29-year-old niece.
Muya said the two had previous misunderstandings, but police have no idea on the grudge.
Muya said the victim was outside their house when the incident happened.
At first, she thought that a rock fell on their house only to realize that it was a grenade.
Muya said the grenade did not explode because Alimania did not pull out its pin.
“Daw basta niya na lang gin haboy kag nalagyo,” he added.
No injuries were reported.
When police responded, they recovered the grenade and an improvised shotgun at Alimania’s house.
Muya said the suspect will be facing frustrated homicide charges in relation to illegal possession of explosive and illegal possession of firearm.
The recovered grenade was already turned over to the Explosive Ordnance Disposal unit for safekeeping.
