ROXAS CITY, Capiz— A 55-year-old man died from drowning Sunday afternoon at Marugo Lake in Barangay San Antonio, Tapaz, Capiz.

The body of John Galo of Barangay Candelaria, Tapaz, Capiz was retrieved an hour after his boat accidentally capsized.

Investigation by Police Corporal John Palacios, Tapaz Municipal Police Station investigator, indicated that Galo, his brother-in-law and other two minors went to the lake to spend Father’s Day.

The four rented a small boat to sail around the lake. But unfortunately, the boat capsized.

Apparently, Galo didn’t know how to swim. It took one hour before he was retrieved by search and rescue volunteers.

The victim’s three other companions survived.

Galo was taken to Tapaz District Hospital where he was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician.
