BACOLOD City – A man died while his friend is critical after they were shot at Purok Lampirong, Barangay 2 here yesterday.
Police identified the fatality as a certain “Cris” of Barangay Mansilingan here.
Wounded was a certain “Loraine” of Talisay City, Negros Occidental.
Police Lieutenant Andy Ofalia, deputy station commander of Police Station 2, said the two victims had a drinking session with some friends in the area on Monday night.
They had another drinking session the following day before the incident occurred.
Ofalia said one of their companions then shot the two victims on the head.
Cris died on the spot while Loraine is still confined to a hospital here.
Ofalia said they could not establish how the shooting happened as nobody was there when the police arrived.
He said they are eyeing misunderstanding as possible motive in the incident, although they are also not discounting that it could be drug-related.
According to some residents, many individuals would usually go to that boarding house, he added.
Ofalia said they have yet to check the background of the victims.
He also said they are probing the statement of some witnesses in the area that Loraine’s bag containing big amount of cash was missing.
He said they have yet to reach the owner of the boarding house where one of the victims’ friends is staying.
“Gin pasira lang to anay namon para kung may magpalapit man gid, makabalo kami,” he added.
