Man with multiple cases charged anew for illegal gun possession

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Police on Tuesday filed illegal gun possession charges against a 30-year-old laborer who was caught in a raid by local authorities on Monday at President Roxas, Capiz.

Charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) were filed against Toto (name withheld as per request by the police) of Sitio Matnog, Barangay Cabug-Cabug, President Roxas town before the Capiz Provincial Prosecutor’s Office.

Toto was arrested in a raid on his house that was authorized by a search warrant issued by Judge Lorencito Diaz of the Regional Trial Court Branch 17 in Roxas City on October 2, 2023.

The operation was jointly conducted by the President Roxas Municipal Police Station and 1st Capiz Provincial Mobile Force Company 2nd Maneuver Platoon.

Recovered from Toto were a .38-caliber revolver loaded with three live ammunition, a break-type homemade 12-gauge shotgun with a live bullet, and a homemade long-barreled shotgun.

According to Major Rachelle D. Garnica, President Roxas Municipal Police Station chief, the suspect had previous cases for homicide, frustrated homicide, and other crimes.

He was detained at the Capiz Rehabilitation Center (CRC) for several years but managed to post bail for his temporary liberty.

The suspect is presently detained at President Roxas Municipal Police Station.
