Filipino volleyball superstar Marck Espejo will once again don the blue and white Philippine team jersey after announcing his return to the national squad last June 19, 2023.

Espejo is expected to lead the men’s national volleyball squad in the upcoming 2023 AVC Asian Men’s Volleyball Challenge Cup in Taipei, Taiwan.

Aside from joining the team in the AVC Challenge Cup, Espejo will also be playing in a couple of international friendly matches against the Netherlands and China.

Espejo said that these two upcoming international friendlies will be a huge training ground not only for him but also for the national team’s cohesiveness.

The matches against Netherlands and China will take place this July while the AVC Challenge Cup will be kicking off from July 8-15, 2023.

After his short campaign with the national team, Espejo revealed that he will be flying back to Korea for the Korean Volleyball League.

Espejo was drafted by the Korean league last April 29, 2023, and was picked by the Incheon Korean Air Jumbos.

His name was announced after Mongolian sensation Eddie and Ryohei Iga of Japan who were drafted by the Daejeon Samsung and Suwon KEPCO, respectively.

This is Espejo’s fifth overseas volleyball stint as an Asian import after rendering his services to Japan, Bahrain, and Thailand during the last five years.

Espejo became the second Filipino that will see action in Korea after Petro Gazz’s star middle blocker MJ Phillips was also selected several weeks ago in the women’s division.
