The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel loaded its already talented backcourt rotation for the upcoming PBA 48th season after acquiring explosive guard Maverick Ahanmisi.

Ahanmisi, who became a free agent after not renewing with the Converge FiberXers, will be boosting Ginebra’s bid for another PBA championship title after losing at the hands of the TNT Tropang Giga during the last import-laced conference.

It was Ginebra’s chief mentor Tim Cone who welcomed the addition of another star floor general in their pool and admitted that he would immediately become a great fit for their system.

With the loss of shooting guard Jeremiah Gray after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) during the PBA On Tour Preseason, Cone said that Ahanmisi will fill in his shoes with his ability to score and defend at his size for a guard.

During the last season, Ahanmisi was a vital piece to Converge’s playoffs runs and averaged 13.7 points, 5.9 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.2 steals per contest.

Ahanmisi has already proven himself that he can score in pressure-packed games, proof is his several clutch outings for the Aldin Ayo-led franchise when they were making a deep run to the playoffs.

With Ahanmisi now under the San Miguel Corporation-backed team, he will have the chance to be mentored by one of the most decorated point guards in the history of the PBA, LA Tenorio.

Several weeks ago, Tenorio announced that he is eyeing for a PBA return this 48th season after getting diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer.

Aside from Tenorio, Ahanmisi will also be teaming up with Stanley Pringle, one of the most explosive and athletic guards in the league right now.

Multiple sources already revealed that Ahanmisi already signed a three-year maximum contract deal with the Gin Kings effective until the 2026 PBA playing season.
