Court sheriff loses jewelry, licensed gun to robbers

ROXAS CITY, Capiz – A court sheriff here lost around P160,000 worth of jewelry and his licensed firearm to unidentified suspects who forcibly entered his house on New Road in Barangay Banica, Roxas City.

Ermi Lut, 53, reported to the Roxas City Component Police Station that upon his arrival from work around 4:20 pm on September 15, 2023, he discovered that the lights in his house were turned on and the doorknob of his master bedroom was destroyed.

He also found that some of his belongings were in disarray.

Lut said his Caliber 9mm Glock pistol with three magazines and loaded with live ammunition was missing. The gun and accessories were valued at P59,000

Among the missing pieces of jewelry were: 2 gold bracelets worth P60,000, a gold necklace worth P12,000, a ring worth P3,000, and a graduation ring worth P4,000.

Lut said the firearm and the jewelry were placed in a cabinet.

Police investigation indicated that the suspects gained entry by destroying the back door of the house and sawing the grills.

He also discovered that the suspects destroyed the CCTV camera installed inside and outside of the house. Not contented, the suspects also took the CCTV camera’s memory card.
