ON OCTOBER 21, 2019 MerryMart signed its first franchise agreement for a MerryMart Store to be located beside Mang Inasal in Mambusao Sigma road in Capiz province.

The site is a stopover point as well as surrounded by 4 nearby municipalities of Sapi-an, Dumalag, Jamindan and Dao.

“When we recently announced that MerryMart is ready for franchising, I am very happy to know that the first franchisee of Mang Inasal has applied to also franchise MerryMart. I am personally grateful for the faith in us,” said MerryMart Chairman Edgar Injap Sia II.

“We would like to take advantage of our group’s know-how in franchising, and our familiarity of the Philippine market terrain, just like in the rollout of Mang Inasal, CityMall, Hotel101 and CentralHub network. We believe this step will further strengthen the market grip of all the industries that our group is involved in,” added Edgar Injap Sia II.

“I immediately reached out to MerryMart to apply for a franchise because I know this will again become a highly successful venture. I can still remember when I applied for a Mang Inasal franchise early on about 12 years ago and became the first franchisee of Mang Inasal, now I operate a chain of 23 Mang Inasal franchise stores, and I hope to also grow my MerryMart franchise in the years to come,” said MerryMart Franchisee Mr. Arturo Oñas.

MerryMart Store is the Household Essential Store format of the MerryMart Group. The concept of a MerryMart Store combines the Mini Grocery + Pharmacy + Health & Beauty lines with average store size of about 250 square meters. The 3-in-1 innovation and expansion through franchising is expected to bring in operational efficiencies and enable MerryMart to rapidly scale up and build up durable competitive advantage. Franchising also creates business opportunities for many budding entrepreneurs.

MerryMart aims to have a total of 1,200 branches nationwide and generate P120 Billion in systemwide revenues by 2030 from its various formats- MerryMart Grocery, MerryMart Market and MerryMart Store. The MerryMart expansion is seen to create over 15,000 new jobs for the Filipino workforce in the near term. The Philippine economy is expected to fully benefit from MerrryMart being a local Filipino homegrown brand.

In preparation for its rapid growth, MerryMart has recently gone live on its SAP ERP system.  MerryMart will also soon be available in both online and offline channels.

The company also expects to set up several MerryMart warehouses and distribution centers to support the MerryMart retail shops around the country and intends to locate these in DoubleDragon’s CentralHub warehouse complexes. The first MerryMart logistics distribution center is scheduled tostart the operation this coming November.

The first MerryMart opened last April at the ground floor of DoubleDragon Plaza, DD Meridian Park, Bay Area, Metro Manila. As of today there are 7 MerryMart branches under simultaneous construction. The next MerryMart is set to open at the ground floor of the new Ayala Mall-Manila Bay.
