BACOLOD City – Mayor Ella Garcia Yulo of Moises Padilla, Negros Occidental confirmed Friday that the town municipal hall was locked down after a department head tested positive for coronavirus 2019 or COVID-19.

Yulo said she herself was swabbed even though she was not a close contact of the said department head.

She also said the department head was not at the municipal hall and did not join the groundbreaking ceremony for a road project at Barangay Crossing Magallon Thursday.

The mayor hopes to reopen the municipal hall Monday.

Meanwhile, due to the increasing cases of COVID-19 in the city and the ongoing contact tracing, Sipalay Mayor Maria Gina M. Lizares signed Executive Order No. 2021-010 amending EO 2021-008 which set certain rules amid the pandemic.

The EO specified Sundays for mandatory disinfection while all big events and mass gatherings shall not be allowed.

All tourism activities are not allowed, and accommodation establishments shall temporarily be closed.

Accommodation establishments such as pension houses, inns, and lodges in the city proper shall operate at 30% capacity and will only accept APORs and personnel delivering essential goods.

During Sundays, all establishments shall be closed for disinfection.

Residents were advised to stay at home and only go out if necessary and at the same time wear masks and maintain safe distancing.
