Staying true to its commitment, MORE Power held a bloodletting activity as part of the month-long celebration of the second anniversary since President Rodrigo Duterte signed its franchise as the sole distributor of electric power in Iloilo City.
A total of 48 blood bags were collected from 48 employees that included linemen, office staff, security personnel, utility workers, including personnel of third-party service providers.
“Since MORE Power believes in giving blood as the gift of life, I never hesitated one bit in joining. Besides, I do this on a regular basis being a blood donor for years now and I find this as the most opportune time to do it this year,” said MORE Power Conversion Manager Ariel Castañeda.
“This is actually my first time to be donating blood and I guess it won’t be the last. I like helping people in my own little way and believe there’s nothing better than saving lives by giving a part of yourself to extend the life of those in need of it,” added Metering Services lineman Julius Michael Garvin.
Steffi Marie Magalone of the Customer Service department said she’d been wanting to donate blood.
“Donating blood on a regular basis provides certain health benefits on the part of the giver. That, of course, is in addition to the fact that I want and is willing to help in whatever way.”
This is the first time that MORE Power initiated a blood donation campaign, and the company intends to make it a bi-annual activity.
Helping MORE Power in the bloodletting activity was Philippine Red Cross (PRC)-Iloilo and the Western Visayas Regional Blood Center who are also the beneficiaries of the project.
PRC-Iloilo chapter administrator Gilbert Paul Valderrama thanked MORE Power led by president and chief operating officer Roel Castro for the project.
Valderrama said the blood they donated will save many lives in the region.
Last December, MORE Power also provided financial aid to PRC-Iloilo Chapter as part of its corporate social responsibility initiatives.
