
MORE Electric and Power Corporation (MORE Power) has successfully refunded P2.8 million to 685 customers who consistently paid their electricity bills on time over the past three years, as part of their bill deposit refund program.
The refund, which began in May 2023, honors the Magna Carta for Residential Electricity Consumers by ensuring that eligible customers receive their due refunds.
The Magna Carta mandates that distribution utilities like MORE Power must refund the bill deposit of customers who have maintained a perfect payment record—no missed payments or service disconnections—for 36 consecutive months. The bill deposit is initially required from new meter applicants before their meters are installed.
As of August 2024, 996 customers had met the eligibility criteria, with 685 already processing and receiving their refunds.
Among them is Julie Ann Arab, who expressed her gratitude for the timely refund. “It was just right because our gas ran out. The salary was delayed, so we had to buy it first. Unexpected, but a big help because if you don’t have extra money, it’s there,” she said.
Mrs. Doroteo, another recipient, emphasized the importance of timely payments: “Continue not to be late, on-time should be continuous until you receive a refund from MORE Power.”
Resty Minerva echoed the sentiments of the Magna Carta’s significance: “It’s true what the Magna Carta mandates, and MORE is fulfilling it. We can buy what we need at home.”
MORE Power also clarified that customers who are not eligible for the refund due to late payments within the past 36 months can still receive their bill deposit, with accrued annual interest, if they decide to terminate their electric service.
To further streamline customer service and reduce stress, MORE Power encourages customers to sign up for E-BILLING through their website or by using the QR code available on their official Facebook page. Customers are also advised to download the MORE PowerUP mobile application, which provides convenient access to billing services, including E-BILLING registration and real-time bill checking.
The bill deposit refund program reflects MORE Power’s commitment to customer service and adherence to regulatory standards, ensuring that consumers are rewarded for their responsible payment behavior.
