BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) has deployed more than 200 policemen to secure the holiday season this December.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico, public information officer of BCPO, said the deployment plan is composed of 53 BCPO personnel, 113 augmentation forces from Police Regional Office (PRO)-6, and personnel from 10 police stations.
These policemen are assigned on streets as beat patrollers to provide security to the public during Christmas rush.
Pico said that policemen were also deployed to man the police assistance desks put up in shopping malls, churches, terminals, sea ports, and other areas of convergence.
The deployment started on the first week of December when all police units were placed on full alert for the Christmas and New Year celebrations, where there is influx of people.
The regional headquarters will also send 71 additional policemen to augment the city police force’s strength this holiday season.
At present, the BCPO headquarters has about 600 policemen.
Meanwhile, Pico is appealing for the public’s cooperation to prevent untoward incidents like theft and robbery.
