BACOLOD City – A total of 839 recruits of the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) were deployed to different areas to help the government in the fight against the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19).

This is after the trainees finished their Coast Guardsman’s Course (CGMC) at the PCG Regional Training Center in Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental early this month.

According to the PCG, these recruits underwent one year training in the town to prepare them mentally and physically through military exercise and drills.

They were also taught about basic soldiery, customs, and traditions of the PCG.

They also underwent another six months training on maritime law enforcement, maritime security, maritime safety, maritime search and rescue, and marine environmental protection.
Last year, PCG-Negros Occidental announced that it needs additional personnel to support the existing strength of the local station in the province, including Bacolod City.
