MPBL commissioner Kenneth Duremdes and the rest of the board are determined to finish the ongoing Lakan Season after the COVID-19 crisis.
With the bent schedule they already have due to the pandemic, commissioner Duremdes said that they are still sticking with pushing through the unfinished playoff games depending when the enhanced community quarantine will be lifted by the government.
“We’re going to finish the season. We’re just waiting for the clearance of the national government,” Duremdes said.
The decision that the MPBL board is going to make will also involve the opinion and consultation of the four teams currently playing: San Juan, Makati, Davao, and Basilan.
Duremdes said that they will seek the advice of these teams before putting out their final decision for the season.
“First, we need to advise the four teams involved since they are all coming from inactivity and the players need to get back in shape,” added Duremdes.
Both the North and the South division finals are all deadlocked at 1-1, and the San Juan-Makati, Davao-Basilan showdowns will go down to one final deciding game.
Duremdes also said that they can play after the ECQ has been lifted, but most probably behind closed doors.
