The National Basketball Association (NBA) slapped Trae Young with a $25,000 fine for confronting the officials during the Atlanta Hawks’ disappointing loss at the hands of the Brooklyn Nets last December 7, 2023.

After the NBA board’s thorough assessment of what transpired after the game, commissioner Adam Silver then announced that Young’s inappropriate actions towards the referees was the basis for the decision.

Young had one last chance to help the Hawks win the game as they trailed, 114-113, with only 4.5 seconds left in the clock.

However, Young tried to draw a foul on his way up for a shot but the referees didn’t blow their whistles which led to a Brooklyn win.

After the game, Young rushed to the officials and complained excessively, pleading his case that that should’ve been a foul.

Young didn’t only complain but the NBA also confirmed that he used inappropriate language towards the official.

With 22 seconds left in the game, Young was close in delivering the knockout blow after draining a clutch three-pointer from the top of the key that gave the Hawks a 113-112 lead.

However, Brooklyn’s main man Mikal Bridges spoiled Young’s heroics after hitting a cold-blooded fade away shot for another lead change, 114-113.

Atlanta still had 4.5 seconds to draw up a play for Young but his final attempt missed that dropped their record to nine wins and 12 losses.
