ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Region 6 has joined the investigation on the case of a missing seaman in Brgy. Barangay Dolores, Dumalag, Capiz.
The family believed that Marnel Bulahan was drowned and carried away by flood while crossing the river last October 6, 2020.
NBI got information from the neighbors who claimed that Bulahan was inside their house together with the family members around 10 pm of October 5.
According to a certain Jerome, the boat Bulahan used to cross the river was under repair due to mechanical trouble.
Jerome added that it was past 12 pm of October 5 that he last saw the seaman. He said that the water level of the river was not yet deep.
He added that he went home around 6pm and saw the improvised boat docked at the riverbank.
Based on the information from a certain Ping-ping, it was about 6 pm when Bulahan gathered his chickens. She was also advised by one alias Panay not to go home and cross the river.
But around 6:30pm that day, Panay told Bulahan to take a rest and sleep at the nipa hut instead of going home. It was learned that the nipa hut was near the poultry farm of Bulahan.
NBI-6 has failed to get a statement of the wife of Bulahan as she was in Iloilo City during that time.
The NBI is now studying the information given by the neighbors.
The family has asked the wife of Bulahan to cooperate with the NBI in looking for the missing seafarer.
Bulahan remains missing despite efforts by the police, rescue groups and even psychics to locate him.
Any information on the victim’s location could be sent to cellular phone numbers (920) 876-9124 and (916) 754-2193.
