The University of San Agustin Gym was flooded by fans and volleyball enthusiasts as two dominant schools had a showdown in the 2019 UNIGAMES Women’s volleyball.
The De La Salle Spikers crushed their rival Mapua University in straight sets fashion, 25-13, 25-11, 25-23, that provided to be the highlight in day four’s morning event in volleyball.
With La Salle taking advantage of their height, Mapua’s tried to counter with their floor coverage and defense as they averaged 3 saves per possession off powerful attacks from the green shirts.
But as the game progressed, Mapua wasn’t able to hold on as their defense began to show holes and was overwhelmed by La Salle.
In the third set, fans went crazy in the gym as Mapua began to connect on their offensive schemes, cruising past giant middle-blockers from La Salle with their well-placed spikes.
Mapua also began to play smarter as they played drop-balls in good situations and was able to disregard La Salle’s blockers.
But during the clutch stretch down the wire it was La Salle who found their stride and ended the game with a statement attack from the back-line.
