Certification begins with a Trust Index™ Survey and a comprehensive culture audit. Once these rigid certification benchmarks are met, deliberations are made by a team of consultants and management directors.

To earn this recognition, participating organizations respond to over 60 questions based on the Trust Model. 86% of the evaluation is based on what employees report about their experiences of trust and reaching their full human potential as part of their organization. In addition to the survey, Great Place to Work, also uses the Culture Audit™, a tool asking organizations to share practices, policies, and programs that they feel contribute to a great workplace.
For this year and in light of the pandemic, participant organizations were asked just one question – “Tell us about the bold acts of leadership your organization has taken in response to the COVID-19 crisis to create a great workplace for all, for your people, in your community or the world.” This accounted for 40% of the overall ranking and was then combined with Trust Index Survey™ Results (which comprised 60% of the overall ranking).
