NegOcc police again tops Birada Semana feat

This month’s Birada Semana of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 yielded expected results as Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (NOPPO) again racked up the most number of arrests and anti-criminality operations from March 13 to 19, 2023.

Birada Semana is a weeklong enhanced managing police operations (E-MPO) and focused police operations on anti-criminality, wanted persons, illegal drugs, and illegal gambling.

NOCPPO arrested the highest number of most wanted and other wanted persons and operations against illegal drugs and illegal gambling.

While Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) mounted the most number of operations against violations of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) and R.A. 9516 (Unlawful Manufacture, Sales, Acquisition, Disposition, Importation or Possession of an Explosive or Incendiary Device), NOCCPP recorded the most number of surrendered and recovered firearms.

For the period, NOCPPO arrested 90 wanted persons while IPPO collared 65.

Antique PPO arrested 44; Bacolod City PO with 27, Iloilo City PO with 11,  Capiz with 9, Aklan with 8, and Guimaras with 5.

Of 59 anti-illegal drug operations in a week, NOCPPO conducted 26 and arrested 37 persons while Bacolod City did 13 operations.

The Iloilo City PO conducted 7 operations while IPPO had 6; Aklan PPO with 3; Capiz with 2; and Guimaras and the Regional Police Drug Enforcement Unit (RPDEU)-6 with one each.

Antique PPO had no arrest for the period.

Meanwhile, IPPO conducted the most number of operations on RA 10591 and RA 9516 at 7 while NOCCPP had 5.

Capiz PPO mads 3 operations, Bacolod City PO with 2, and Guimaras with 1.

Aklan, Antique, and Iloilo City had zero arrests.

Again, NOCCPP conducted the most number of anti-illegal gambling operations at 22 while Iloilo PPO had 9; BCPO with 7; Capiz with 6; Antique with 3; and Aklan, Guimaras and Iloilo City with 1 each.

Brigadier General Leo Francisco, Western Visayas police chief, said that anti-criminality operations will continue even beyond the conduct of “Birada Semana.”
