The number of new COVID-19 cases in Iloilo City have been steadily decreasing as the city gradually enters the “new normal.”
For the month of November 2021, the daily average of new cases was down to eight cases per day, the lowest since January this year.
From Nov 1 to 18, the city logged 139 cases or an average of 8 cases per day, compared to October with 890 cases or an average of 49 cases daily.
This is equivalent to an 84 percent drop in new cases.
For the past six days, the city has continuously logged low one-digit numbers with nine cases recorded on Nov. 15; eight on Nov. 16; seven on Nov. 18; six on Nov. 13; five cases each on Nov. 11 and Nov. 12; and four cases on Nov. 14 and Nov. 17.
As of Nov. 19, the total cases logged in Iloilo City is now at 21,107 with 21,047 recoveries, 188 active cases, and 589 deaths.
The consistent drop in cases in the metro was attributed by the local authorities to the massive vaccination campaign.
Based on the latest data from the Department of Health Region 6 (DOH-6), a total of 364,609 individuals, equivalent to 108.78 percent of the target population, have received their first dose.
Meanwhile, 323,949 or 96.65% have already been fully vaccinated.
Despite the drop in cases, local authorities have reminded the public to not be complacent and continue in observing the minimum public health standards. (ERS)
