BACOLOD City – Police Colonel Romy Palgue, director of Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo), called on interested individuals to join the police service.

In a virtual press conference yesterday, Palgue said the Police Regional Office (PRO)-6 is “under quota” in police recruitment.

Out of the more than 400 applicants, only 359 passed the tests and training.

Palgue said 359 police recruits took oath here last Monday, but it is not enough to fill in the vacancies in the regional police force.

“We are hoping to reach the quota on the next recruitment, particularly in the province,” he said.

Palgue said it is better to recruit police officers from Negros so that they will remain in their area of jurisdiction and won’t seek to be transferred to other areas which will affect the existing personnel.

During his visit to Nocppo headquarters on Monday, Police Colonel Patrick Villacorte, deputy regional director for administration of PRO-6, said the police should strengthen their information drive so that many will get interested in joining their ranks.

“Sayang ang quota pag hindi na reach,” Villacorte added.
