SPORTS aficionados in Talisay City will be treated to an entertaining basketball game as National University Bulldogs is set to play in the 3rd Mayor Neil Lizaress Basketball Exhibition Game on Feb 9, 2019.
The seventh placer in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) will challenge back-to-back Negros Occidental Private Schools Sports, Cultural and Educational Association (NOPSSCEA) champions, Colegio de Sta. Ana de Victorias Titans.
The Bulldogs lineup include siblings Sean Dave and Shaun Danielle Ildefonso, along with Joshua Sinclair of Pavia, Iloilo; Adven Jess Diputado, Jonas Tibayan, John Gallego, John Lloyd Clemente, Issa Gaye, Antonio Jose Joson, Matthew Aquino, John Martin Galinato, Dave Wilson Yu, and Reggie Nal Morido.
Meanwhile, the Negros-based team will bank on Junior Essakadoualla, Carl Magbanua and Jeffrey Manday, who was recently drafted by CheLu Bar and Grill in PBA Developmental League.
The exhibition game is part of the citys celebration of the 21st Pasidungog Festival, the charter day and thanksgiving festival of the city.
Before the match, Negros selection and Talisay selection will clash in the 14-and-under starting 4 p.m. at the Talisay covered gym.
On the other hand, hundreds of futsal enthusiasts from different barangays and schools in Talisay City will converge at the Talisay City gymnasium on Feb. 10 for the Pasidungog Futsal Festival
The games, which is part of Talisay Citys charter celebration, will feature 13 under, 17 under and Open categories.
Aside from providing avenue for football enthusiasts, the event also aims to fortify the citys goal to further strengthen its sports tourism program.
The event is supported by Mayor Niel Lizares, Councilor Gab Villacin in partnership with the City Sports department (ATLETA) headed by Sports Coordinator Kenneth Valderrama and Minulu-an FC president Rafael Juny Lizares.
