One reported missing, more than 200 individuals evacuated due to ‘Dante’

BACOLOD City – A man was reported missing in a flashflood in Hinoba-an, Negros Occidental while more than 200 individuals left their homes in various areas in the province last Tuesday due to Tropical Storm “Dante.”

Based on the records from the Provincial Disaster Management Program Division (PDMPD), seven persons were initially reported missing due to flashfloods in Hinoba-an town caused by heavy rains brought by the said tropical storm.

But latest reports indicated that six were rescued yesterday. No additional details were given as of 5 p.m. yesterday.

PDMPD head Dr. Zeaphard Caelian said that six individuals in Barangay Bulwangan and 48 others in Barangay Asia were evacuated.

Evacuations were also reported in Binalbagan town, affecting 19 families composed of 57 individuals in Barangays Payao and Bagroy.

Caelian said landslides were also reported at Sitio Bugalo, Barangay Santol, and GMA in Barangay Payao.

In Isabela town, 34 families composed of 111 persons were also evacuated in Hacienda Barila, Magsaysay, Barangay 8, and Guintubhan.

Caelian said that no casualties were reported.

Meanwhile, five families were also evacuated in Barangay Taculing here when the water level under a bridge rose, affecting some nearby houses on Tuesday night.

Executive Assistant Joemarie Vargas, cluster head of City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), said no major flooding was reported in the city.
