Finally, ONE Fighting Championship’s special anniversary event, the “ONE X”, is set to take the world by storm this March 26, 2022, to be held at the Singapore Indoor Stadium.
ONE X was originally scheduled last December 2021 but travel restrictions in Singapore forced ONE organizers to postpone the highly-anticipated Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) event.
Chairman and CEO Chatri Sityodtong revealed the news and shared that this is ONE’s biggest event so far in history.
“Our tenth-year anniversary show, the biggest show in the history of the company, ONE X, was delayed last year. Now we have a lot of confidence in what’s happening, so March 26th, ONE X goes down,” Sityodtong said.
Headlining the blockbuster event is the crossover special match between ONE’s Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang Jitmuangnon and MMA great Demetrius Johnson.
In the first and third rounds of the fight, both fighters will be following Muay Thai rules while in the second and fourth, the traditional MMA rule book will be enforced.
This has been one of the most requested dream matches by ONE fans ever since Rodtang shook the MMA world and Johnson transferred from the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
“So it’s going to be Pride FC style, back in the old days. We want to do something special like that. We want to do something fun that would commemorate martial arts in a way that celebrates all of mixed martial arts and history, not just our ten-year history,” added Sityodtong.
Also included in the ONE X event are fights from ONE atomweight champion Angela Lee and challenger Stamp Fairtex, and ONE flyweight champion Adriano Moraes against Yuya Wakamatsu.
