ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The City Ordinance and Regulations Enforcement (CORE) has apprehended 1,337 persons for alleged violation of the “No Helmet No Driving Ordinance” which the Roxas City government implemented starting August 1, 2023.

The no helmet-wearing ordinance authored by City Councilor John Paul Arcenas has created varied reactions, both negative and positive.

Some individuals threatened not to support and vote for Arcenas in the next election because of the said ordinance.

But Arcenas welcomed the threat stressing that he merely wanted to protect the motorcycle drivers and riders from any untoward road incidents.

The CORE also apprehended 856 persons for violating the Anti-Smoking and Vaping, and Anti-littering and Anti-dumping Ordinances from July 10 to September 7 this year.

The City Environment and Natural Resources Office (CENRO) under Ronald Amigo and the Roxas City Police Station are preparing to file appropriate charges against the violators who failed to pay the corresponding penalties with the City Treasurer’s office.

Mayor Ronnie Dadivas created the CORE to implement the city ordinances that have not been strictly enforced in the past years.
